World's first humanoid robot sports meeting opens

Aug. 18, 2025

On August 14th, the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games, the world's first comprehensive competition featuring humanoid robots, officially opened at the National Speed Skating Oval, also known as the "Ice Ribbon." 280 participating teams from 16 countries and regions gathered in Beijing for a three-day event from August 15th to 17th. The Games will compete in 487 events across 26 disciplines, including competitive, exhibition, scenario, and preliminary competitions. The events will showcase cutting-edge advances in humanoid robots in areas such as intelligent decision-making and coordinated movement.

The song and dance performance "Welcome to the World of Carbon-Based Life" featured human dancers and robots seamlessly collaborating to create a "dialogue between carbon and silicon." The fashion show "Heavenly Clothes" seamlessly blended intangible cultural heritage techniques with futuristic design. At the opening ceremony on August 14th, over 100 teams shone at the "Ice Ribbon," showcasing a variety of mechas, robot street dance, opera performances, and collaborations with professional street dance troupes, vividly showcasing the intersection and fusion of technology and human civilization. As the "Smart Core" device in the center of the stage - a metal tetrahedron inlaid with blue crystal chips - was lit up, the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games officially started.
